Cities

Cities is your atlas of the places you've been — a record of every city you've lived in, traveled to, or want to remember. Pin a city on the world map, log each visit with the people you were with, and build a passport of your time across the globe.

How it works

Each city gets its own entry, located on a real-world map by latitude and longitude. Within a city you record individual visits — separate trips to the same place, each with its own dates, companions, and the moments that happened there. A weekend in Lisbon in 2022 and a return in 2025 live under one Lisbon entry, as two visits.

When you add a city, start typing its name and CairnHolm looks it up for you, auto-filling the region, country, coordinates, and continent so you never have to hunt down a latitude by hand.

What you can store per city

  • Name, region/state, and country (with country code)
  • Continent — derived automatically from the country
  • Latitude and longitude — used to pin the city on the Atlas map
  • Editorial content — a full markdown editor for what the place means to you
  • Poster image
  • Visits — one or more trips, each with a date, people, and linked memories
  • Published / Featured — controls public visibility

What you can store per visit

  • Visit date — when you were there
  • People — who you were with, pulled from your People directory
  • Linked vacation — connect the visit to a trip in Vacations
  • Related items — other things from your archive that happened in this city (events, restaurants, parks, media, and more), which you can pin to highlight or hide

The Atlas map

The Atlas is a zoomable, draggable map of the world with a pin on every city you've logged. Scroll or pinch to zoom (all the way from the whole world down to street level), drag to pan, and use the region quick-jump chips — World, North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania — to recenter instantly. Pins stay a constant size as you zoom, so a dense cluster of European cities stays readable.

What you can do

  • Pin cities anywhere in the world with auto-filled location details
  • Log multiple visits to the same city over the years
  • Tag the people you traveled with so visits appear on their People profile
  • Link visits to vacations to tie the city into the larger trip
  • Connect memories — pin the events, meals, and parks that happened in each city
  • Explore your Atlas as a zoomable world map
  • Publish cities to share your map publicly

City visits also surface in your Daily Collective Log and on the Calendar, so a trip shows up alongside everything else you recorded that day.

Drop a pin. Remember the place.
