Birthdays & Anniversaries

Terra tracks important dates for the people in your life and surfaces them before they arrive — on your home dashboard, in your calendar, and as upcoming events in the People section.

Birthdays​

Add a birthday when creating or editing a person. You can store:

  • Full birthday (month, day, year) — Terra calculates their current age and how old they'll be turning
  • Month and day only — toggle Year Unknown if you don't know their birth year. Terra will still show the upcoming date without displaying an age.

Where birthdays appear​

  • Home dashboard — an Upcoming Birthdays widget shows the next 5 birthdays within the next 30 days, sorted by how soon they are. Each entry shows the person's name, the date, and either their turning age (if year is known) or just the date. Birthdays happening today are highlighted.
  • Calendar — birthdays appear as recurring annual events.
  • Person profile — shows their age (if year known), the calendar date of their next birthday, and how many days away it is.

Anniversaries​

Add an anniversary date to any person's profile in the editing view. This is a flexible field — use it for a wedding anniversary, the date you became friends, the date you started working together, or any recurring date worth remembering.

Where anniversaries appear​

  • Home dashboard — if you have a partner marked in People, an upcoming anniversaries widget appears alongside birthdays.
  • Calendar — anniversaries appear as recurring annual events.
  • Person profile — shows how many years have passed and how many days until the next anniversary.

Keeping dates accurate​

  • If someone tells you their birthday and you're not sure of the year, use the Year Unknown toggle rather than guessing. An accurate month/day is more useful than a wrong birth year.
  • Anniversaries don't have a Year Unknown option — if you're unsure of the year, just track the month and day by setting any year as a placeholder.
  • You can update dates at any time by editing the person's profile.

Common questions​

How far in advance does the upcoming birthdays widget show dates? The widget looks 30 days ahead and shows the next 5 upcoming birthdays in that window. If someone has a birthday outside that 30-day window, they won't appear in the widget — but their birthday is still tracked and will surface when the date gets closer.

Can I add a birthday reminder notification? Birthday and anniversary dates appear on your calendar and in the home dashboard widget. Notification reminders for these dates are handled through your calendar and notification settings.

What if two people have the same birthday? Both appear in the upcoming widget — they're just listed in order of how soon the birthday is (same day entries are shown together).
