Productivity Insights
The Task Velocity chart tracks how many tasks you complete over time, giving you a picture of your productivity output across weeks and months.
The Velocity chart
The chart is on the Home tab and shows two lines over the last 12 weeks:
- Planned — tasks created or scheduled in that period
- Completed — tasks marked done in that period
When the completed line runs below the planned line consistently, you're creating faster than you're finishing — a signal to either do more or plan less. When completed runs level with or above planned, you're keeping up.
Switching time resolution
Toggle between three views:
- By day — shows daily completion counts; useful for spotting which days of the week you're most productive
- By week — the default view; shows week-by-week output
- By month — zooms out to see longer trends
Stats below the chart
Below the chart, a stats row shows:
- Average completed per period
- Average planned per period
- Total completed in the window
- Total planned in the window
- Best period — the week or month with the highest completion count
- Trend — whether output is rising or falling compared to the previous equivalent period
What to do with this data
The Velocity chart is most useful for noticing patterns, not hitting targets:
- If your completion rate consistently drops during certain weeks, look at what else is happening in your Calendar during those periods
- If you're creating many tasks but completing few, review whether the tasks are actually actionable or are more like vague intentions
- A rising trend after a quiet period often correlates with habit or exercise consistency — cross-reference with those sections if you notice patterns
Common questions
What counts as "planned" in the chart? Tasks created or assigned a due date within the measured period.
Does completing a task affect the period it was created, or the period it was completed? Completed tasks are counted in the period they were marked done. Planned tasks are counted in the period they were created.
My completion count seems low. Is something wrong? Check the Database tab to see if you have many tasks in a non-Active status (Blocked, On Hold). Tasks in those states aren't completed but also aren't actively pursued — they might be skewing your visible workload.
